New Direction for drinkmoor Wines ... 01 April 2008
|
It is with a heavy heart that the Cofield Family have decided to close the cellar doors of drinkmoor Wines. |
The closure signifies a fresh direction for us after a strategic review of the company's business operations and resources and the decision to concentrate on the expansion of our new 'Netherby" vineyard and future projects.
The drinkmoor property will be fitted out with a new Sparkling Line and the storage facility has already been fitted out with a brand new cool room (part of Stage 1 of the FPRAP grant), ready for the envisaged increase in sparkling production. You may remember that Cofield Wines were the recipients of a Federal Grant in 2007 for the development of a Rutherglen Sparkling Wine Tourism Project, which is now being developed at the drinkmoor facility.
"The decision to focus our resources on new projects and a new direction has not been an easy one", says Damien Cofield, Director and Senior Winemaker of Cofield Wines, "We are excited about our Sparkling wine development, new vineyard projects and a few upcoming projects in the pipeline."
The Cofield Family wish to thank everyone who has supported the winery - members, customers and the Rutherglen wine community.
The cellar door at drinkmoor will remain closed (effective as of 28th March 2008) until this year's Rutherglen Winery Walkabout, when it will reopen for its last HURRAH!

Chardonnay Finally Available Again! ... 10 May 2007
|
After a long wait for many of you we now have full stocks again of this hugely popular wine |
The previous vintage of this wine didn't even manage to last 4 months, selling out at cellar door in late August 2006.
Our 2007 release is everything you would expect from a drinkmoor chardonnay, the unoaked style highlighting plenty of fresh melon and peach characters on the nose, with stone fruit and citrus notes on the palate.
If you haven't tried this one from our range before, put a couple of bottles in with your next order and give it a try, you wont be dissapointed!

Another Great addition to the drinkmoor wines range! ... 29 April 2007
|
Meet our 'Soft Cabernet' |
This wine has come about from consistant demand at cellar door for a softer style red. Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, a hint of sweetness on the palate provides the soft finish we are looking for with this wine, as well as helping to highlight it's blood plum and blackcurrant flavours. As with all our reds, it will retail at cellar door at $14.80, and is due for release in the first week in may.

New Releases! ... 22 October 2006
|
|
We are celebrating the release of not one, but two, new wines in November. One of which is a Rutherglen favourite, the other a style which is proving to be one of the most popular in Australia right now.
|
Durif |
|
Sauvignon Blanc Semillon |
This fantastic variety is what sets Rutherglen reds apart from the rest. And, in true drinkmoor wines style, this wine is made for drinking now. For those of you who know and love Durif, this wine delivers all the fantastic dark fruit characters along with the big tannins it's renowned for.
|
This wine simply had to happen. Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most popular styles of wine in Australia right now, and so many of our customers have asked for it - we simply couldn't ignore it. This wine has all the characteristics you would expect, with tropical fruits and a crisp dry finish

DRINKMOOR WINES, SAYS PETER HOWARD ... 25 April 2004
|
Peter Howard writes up drinkmoor wines in Queensland paper - Beachfront Noosa. Here's what he said |
"You may have noticed a wine that is labeled with my favourite motto - drinkmoor wines...couln't have said it better myself. These wines are fun and meant to be that way as I found out when quizzing Mell Millgate, (Marketing Manager)as it (Cofield Wines) is the same company that produces this range of 'drink now and be happy wines'.
'Max and Karen Cofield wanted a range of wines that were not intimidating and were there for us all to drink - everyday wines that didn't challenge us too much, but gave we wine drinkers satsifaction,' she said.
Mell continued: 'These wines don't have a vintage so they are dinkable immediately and are not meant to be put down (cellared, that is). They are made to drink now and are priced accordingly.
'There is also a consistency of style in all the wines and we're getting a great reaction to them.'
And why not? They are excellent wines in that the labels are distinctive and not challenging - understated, I think is the best way to describe them and the range consists of some special wines.
There is a sweetish Chenin Blanc, an unwooded Chardonnay and one called Al Dente made from a dry Muscaelle grape - fragrant and easy to drink. In my opinion, these wines are well thought through. In the reds, they have a Rose, Cabernet Merlot, the Cabernets, and a Petit Verdot. Is the Verdot selling I ask? 'No really,' was the reply. A fortified Madiera-style wine, called the Traveller, it si based on the little known Pedro Ximinez grape and is very good drinking. A There is a borytised wine, aptly called Sticky. Just as the young lady said, fun and direct and to the point.
